About Our Beginnings...

My photo
Hiro was born January 17th at 12:07 am at Kaiser hospital, 48 hours after the water broke. It was a natural birth, and a very positive experience. Judah was born January 1, 2010 at 1:08 pm 7 hours after the water broke. Judah was delivered at Andaluz Waterbirth center, which was a completely magical experience that we highly recommend to anyone having a normal healthy pregnancy. Malakai was born on December 23, 2011 after three days of inactive labor labor and three hours of active labor (three hours after the water broke). Kai was born at Andaluz as well, this time in "Sienna" the red room. It was a relaxing and delightful way to spend our first Christmas with Malakai.

Eight Months!

Being a big eight month old has bought many changes! Hiro is quite mobile, standing up with ease and pulling himself up on everything. He sleeps less, plays with MeeAe, and eats (almost) anything soft on our plate.

Just before he turned 8 months old, Auntie Emiko had her birthday. We celebrated with many of her friends at Battleground lake, going on a hike and enjoying outdoor cooking together. The brave stayed and camped, but we spent the night with Auntie Becca and Uncle Josh instead!

Happy Birthday Em!

Buddies Gabe and Obie find something to investigate in a hole.

That same weekend, Hiro went to the zoo for the first time! We went with MeeAe, Becca, and Josh.

The best...looking at the African animals.

first time checking out goats.

Uncle Josh eating a fish??

Daddy and Hiro checking out the elephants.

Our little bat!

Hiroshi's favorite days are spent with his cousin MeeAe. Now that he is bigger, he can really play with her. The crawl around, now she is walking. They have a lot of fun together!

Everyone loves Uncle Josh!
They were squishing their faces on the glass, but kept on smiling for the camera!
Dinner out on the town...They are so well behaved!
Tub time!
Laundry day!
The way the cutie-pies eat their meals together.

Caps for Sale!
Turns out that Hiro really enjoys (or at least tolerates) wearing hats. Since most of his clothes are hand me downs (thank you Auntie Sarah) we spend his clothing fund on hats!

Mae borrowing Hiro's cowboy hat. What a star!

The Egg Fiascoes!
We have a family tradition of having special breakfast time together on the weekends. I was holding Hiro with one hand and getting the ingredients out with the other, when our strong boy got his hand on something...

Indian Summer
Our summer lasted longer then it usually does. We enjoyed these warm fall days together.

Mommy and Daddy go on a date?!?
It's true! Nat has been working extra hard so that Erin can be a stay at home mommy. We've had a lot of stress with all the life changes we have gone through in the last season. In fact, when we take stock of our marriage, the last few years have really been dominated by cancer. It's time for us to make some changes. Now that everyone in our life is relatively healthy, we really need to prioritize our little family of three. That means more time at home and even an occasional date for mommy and daddy alone.
