About Our Beginnings...

My photo
Hiro was born January 17th at 12:07 am at Kaiser hospital, 48 hours after the water broke. It was a natural birth, and a very positive experience. Judah was born January 1, 2010 at 1:08 pm 7 hours after the water broke. Judah was delivered at Andaluz Waterbirth center, which was a completely magical experience that we highly recommend to anyone having a normal healthy pregnancy. Malakai was born on December 23, 2011 after three days of inactive labor labor and three hours of active labor (three hours after the water broke). Kai was born at Andaluz as well, this time in "Sienna" the red room. It was a relaxing and delightful way to spend our first Christmas with Malakai.

Videos of Hiro at 7 and 8 months

Hiro brushing his teeth all by himself! We are so proud!

MeeAe is such a little mommy and a great big cousin. Here she feeds Hiro a noodle...so cute!

This video is a lot of fun...you hear Hiro's happy scream, and his fake laugh. He sounds like a chipmunk!

In this video, Hiro says "Papa" and sleepy talks. You'll see what we mean!

Here is a lower quality video, but we had to include it because Hiro is having so much fun with his Papa... Grandpa Johnson, that is.

Along with new foods comes lots of messes. Hiro loves yogurt. Look at that eye hand coordination. This was right at 7 months old.

When he turned eight months old, Hiro also conquered stairs. Well...going UP stairs anyway. The first single stair was at Mamo Caroline's house. The following weekend, he went ALL the way up Grandma and Papa Johnson's stairs.

Zoo Videos...
The next two videos are Hiroshi meeting a giraffe for the first time, and another fun mommy and Hiro zoo video. Hope they bring a smile to your face!

Any of you that know Nat, know that he is exceptionally musical. In this video, daddy gives Hiro his first drum lesson.

Preview of nine months old

Can you guess what Hiroshi is going to be for Halloween? More pictures coming soon!

Eight Months!

Being a big eight month old has bought many changes! Hiro is quite mobile, standing up with ease and pulling himself up on everything. He sleeps less, plays with MeeAe, and eats (almost) anything soft on our plate.

Just before he turned 8 months old, Auntie Emiko had her birthday. We celebrated with many of her friends at Battleground lake, going on a hike and enjoying outdoor cooking together. The brave stayed and camped, but we spent the night with Auntie Becca and Uncle Josh instead!

Happy Birthday Em!

Buddies Gabe and Obie find something to investigate in a hole.

That same weekend, Hiro went to the zoo for the first time! We went with MeeAe, Becca, and Josh.

The best...looking at the African animals.

first time checking out goats.

Uncle Josh eating a fish??

Daddy and Hiro checking out the elephants.

Our little bat!

Hiroshi's favorite days are spent with his cousin MeeAe. Now that he is bigger, he can really play with her. The crawl around, now she is walking. They have a lot of fun together!

Everyone loves Uncle Josh!
They were squishing their faces on the glass, but kept on smiling for the camera!
Dinner out on the town...They are so well behaved!
Tub time!
Laundry day!
The way the cutie-pies eat their meals together.

Caps for Sale!
Turns out that Hiro really enjoys (or at least tolerates) wearing hats. Since most of his clothes are hand me downs (thank you Auntie Sarah) we spend his clothing fund on hats!

Mae borrowing Hiro's cowboy hat. What a star!

The Egg Fiascoes!
We have a family tradition of having special breakfast time together on the weekends. I was holding Hiro with one hand and getting the ingredients out with the other, when our strong boy got his hand on something...

Indian Summer
Our summer lasted longer then it usually does. We enjoyed these warm fall days together.

Mommy and Daddy go on a date?!?
It's true! Nat has been working extra hard so that Erin can be a stay at home mommy. We've had a lot of stress with all the life changes we have gone through in the last season. In fact, when we take stock of our marriage, the last few years have really been dominated by cancer. It's time for us to make some changes. Now that everyone in our life is relatively healthy, we really need to prioritize our little family of three. That means more time at home and even an occasional date for mommy and daddy alone.

Seven Months Old!

Seven months was a big mile stone for Hiro. He started crawling with his belly off the floor, pulled himself to a stand, and said "Mama" and"Dada" more in context. He is also eating more solids, makes a sound like he is playing a trumpet. He now has 6 teeth!

Just After Hiro turned seven months old, his best buddy and sister-cousin, MeeAe Grace, turned ONE years old! We had a mini-celebration at our house with Auntie Lelia and Uncle Kevin on her actual birthday. Two days later, the BIG party was at MeeAe's house. It was a fantastic party! Hiro was so excited about everything, it might as well have been his party!

Below are pictures from the official birthday party of MeeAe Grace!
Happy first Mae! We love you!

Sharing the celebration with Grandma Cheryl and Mamo Ehrenstein
Emiko looking very swank and slim at the party. Uncle Drew and Uncle Nat look alright too :)

Cake Pictures and singing "Happy Birthday!"

Late August we had the pleasure of hearing ChristyAnne preform! It was beautiful and so much fun spending a late summer evening at the outdoor production.

The Month of September brought many more birthdays!
It all started with Mamo (Great Grandma) Caroline Ehrenstein's birthday at our house. She brought a new member to our family, the sweet Abby the dog. She's the back dog in the picture below. Then there was Ryan's 24th birthday (wow, that means I am closer to my 30's then 20's! Scary!) We went to PF Changs, and the lovely Alexus joined us.

Alexus also started a new school in September. We really enjoy our Wednesdays with her!
