About Our Beginnings...

Hiro was born January 17th at 12:07 am at Kaiser hospital, 48 hours after the water broke. It was a natural birth, and a very positive experience. Judah was born January 1, 2010 at 1:08 pm 7 hours after the water broke. Judah was delivered at Andaluz Waterbirth center, which was a completely magical experience that we highly recommend to anyone having a normal healthy pregnancy. Malakai was born on December 23, 2011 after three days of inactive labor labor and three hours of active labor (three hours after the water broke). Kai was born at Andaluz as well, this time in "Sienna" the red room. It was a relaxing and delightful way to spend our first Christmas with Malakai.

Baby Hiro is HERE!

Erin's water broke at 7:30 am on Tuesday January 15th. Because Erin tested positive for group B strep (many people have it from time to time...not dangerous to mommy, but a potential infection risk to uterus and baby once water have broken) the hospital wanted her to come in right away. She was having contraction, but could not feel them, and was therefore, not in "real" labor yet, but was not able to leave the hospital either. So Nat and Erin went on lots of long walks around the hospital, and even did a prenatal yoga video. If only she would have slept instead! But she was too excited! Finally at midnight, real hard labor kicked in, and she could not sleep even if she wanted to.
Here's Erin in a contraction.

After about 23 hours of contractions, it was finally time to push! At 12:07 am on Thursday January 17th, Hiroshi Joshua Iwata was born!

Erin starting to push.

Hiro is HERE! Mommy and Daddy are so happy!Hiro with Mamo Carolyn (Great Grandma)Our Hiro!
